Powersheets Progress: My May 2019 Goals
So if you didn’t catch my 2019 yearly personal goals for the year you can hop over to this blog post and catch up!
For May I really wanted to give myself some breathing room with my personal goals. My business has started to pick up and I always feel like it takes me a few weeks after the wedding off-season to really get back to speed again with editing.
With work picking up I really tried to concentrate on 2-3 of my top goals and gave myself permission to not worry about the rest.

My top 3 goals for this month in 2019 are:
Honor God with my body
Pursue and Inspire Christlikeness
Serving and loving my Church Family
If I can keep grounded and centered in these areas during the busy season I would definitely consider that a win!
So, let’s take a deeper look into how I plan on incorporating these big picture goals through my May specific monthly, weekly, and daily goals.
Monthly goals:
- Read Chapters 3 and 4 of When Sinners Say I Do – I have always wanted to read this book and have heard REALLY great things about it as far as its awesome perspective on marriage. My husband and I are currently doing premarital counseling with a couple from our church and this book is a foundational topic for our discussions. Rather than make it a goal to read the entire book in a month, I decided to spread it out so that I didn’t overwhelm myself too much!
- Read Chapters 1-2 of What Did You Expect – Another great marriage book on the bookshelf! I am reading this book alongside a couple in a different counseling session. Often times when counseling others it is incredibly sanctifying for me as I walk alongside them and learn more about what God has to say about different areas of life.
- Celebrate with family in GA – My grandfather (also known to me as Pawpaw…ohhhh yesss this is my Georgia family!) is having a surprise 90th birthday party!! I am so excited for this because the Navy is also surprising him with a Vietnam service medal that he never received.
- Lose 4lbs – I have been working on losing weight this year, and really need to start focusing more. While I know, I know, it’s not about the scale, I do believe the scale can indicate progress and so I would love to see it head in that downward direction. I have made good progress on this goal this year so far, so I just want to keep the momentum going!
- Send Mother’s Day gifts – Seeing how my mom lives in Arkansas I sometimes forget these holidays and don’t often plan in advance well #guilty. So this year I really want to make intentional effort to plan ahead and send something that will arrive on Mother’s Day to show my appreciation and love!!!
- Clean up / clear off desktop files – Okay. So I try to keep my Powersheets goals personal and not business related. BUT my desktop is a HOTT MESS! I mean, I have so many things saved on it that I couldn’t find anything even if I wanted to…. believe me I have tried… Normally when I try and clean it off I create a folder called “desktop” and move all my desktop files into that folder and start all over again. Not the best option. It’s basically my digital version of shoving my things under the bed. So I am making it my personal priority to clean it up this month!
Weekly Goals:
- Sunday Menu Plan – I am the worst when it comes to meal planning. I don’t enjoy it and I get VERY overwhelmed with all the options. Normally I don’t meal plan and just think of dinner on the fly and gather groceries that day for the meal. Although I notice that when I do this I end up spending a lot more money on groceries. So in hopes of trying to save a little, I am going to make a conscious effort to meal plan on Sundays. I can already hear my budget thanking me!
- Cycle 3 days a week – If you follow me on Instagram than you know that Cycling is my jam right now. I love the challenge of it and the atmosphere of turning up the music, turning down the lights and getting out of my head. My goal is to go three days a week at a minimum but to try for more!
- Pray through Journal – This year I purchased Val Marie Papers’ Yearly Prayer Journal. I love the design and the mission of this prayer journal but often find that I don’t use it as much as I would like. There is something so powerful about intentional prayer and time with God. I definitely want to use this more as a tool to love my friends and family well by praying for their specific needs and lifting them up to God.
- Take 1 full day off of work – Oh goodness how silly this feels putting on my Powersheets. But honestly I need the reminder. I am really wanting to intentionally take one full day off where I don’t do any work. I noticed it really does help me focus more during the work week when I do this.
- Be intentional with friends – I put this on my list of things to remember because honestly, sometimes I just need a reminder to be intentional. Whether it is sending a text, asking to go out for coffee, planning a day date, etc. I have a deep desire to cultivate my friendships, but sometimes life can seem to throw so many distractions at me if I am not careful.
Daily Goals:
- Fill my cup up – All this really means is to do something that day that recenters and reminds me of my purpose with the Lord. This can look like Bible reading, worship songs, a Bible based podcast, prayer, really anything that can fill my cup up so I can pour out to others!
- Write the Word at night – This is a new goal for me, but I want to end my day with writing the Word of God and meditating on that before I go to sleep at night. I am currently using Lara Casey’s Gratitude Write the Word Journal!
- Skin/Teeth Care – I have really started to solidify a simple nighttime routine – taking care of my skin and my teeth. I LOVE the Drunk Elephant skin care line, and found that making the investment in their products has really helped my skin so much. The past few months I have been really relaxed with my skin care and I can totally tell a difference since I stopped using it consistently. So this month I am really wanting to make this a daily habit! & If I am going to take care of my face I might as well take the time to care for my teeth too! 😉
That’s a wrap for my May 2019 Goals! I am super excited about this new blog series and hope you enjoy getting to know me a little bit more. Also this is totally helping me keep accountable too!
